Top 10 Storage Centers in Phoenix

Phoenix is known for extremely hot summers and very moderate winters. For example, the average high temperature in July is 107 degrees. The average January high is 47 degrees.

Knowing the temperatures of the area’s climate can persuade your decision on the type of storage to use. Whether it’s a drive up unit, an air cooled interior unit or a climate controlled unit. And if you use outside vehicle or RV storage, with the extreme heat, it’s recommended to find covered storage. And Phoenix definitely has a lot of covered spaces as a result.

The next thing to consider all about storage in Phoenix is the security features that are offered by each facility. Some facilities offer 24 hour video surveillance while others may have electronic gate access. You’ll want to know what kind of protection you’re getting before renting from them.

Phoenix Arizona
Phoenix has a lot of suburbs — and a lot of storage spaces.

Another important factor to consider is location. If you live in one of the many cities around Phoenix, then you will be able to choose from several locations. There’s lot of storage units in Mesa, Gilbert, Tempe, Chandler, Ahwatukee, Apache Junction, Glendale, Paradise Valley and Scottsdale. Tempe, Scottsdale and Paradise Valley would probably be the most expensive units although Gilbert and Queen Creek are quite affluent these days and space is going up in price in those areas.

With the 101, 60 and 202 freeways routing through Phoenix and the surrounding area, a consideration about a convenient storage center is having it close to freeway access. This is acutely helpful for RV and vehicle storage needs.

If you live out further in the growing suburbs like Queen Creek, Avondale, Cave Creek or Buckeye, you might not have the luxury of as many sizes of units and spaces. But don’t worry because there are still plenty of options available — and these areas are growing in population super fast!

You can also look at the size of the units. There are different sizes ranging from 5×5 to 10×20. This is something to think about when deciding how much space you need.

And lastly, you’ll want to make sure that the price per month is reasonable. It shouldn’t cost more than $180 per month. That way you won’t be paying too much money every month.

Now that we’ve gone over some of the things to consider when looking for self storage in Phoenix, let’s take a look at some of the best places to rent from.

Many people move to Arizona every year, because of the moderate winter climate and the strong economy. This has made the metro Phoenix-Mesa-Glendale-Gilbert region one of the largest counties in the U.S. With all that moving going on, many storage centers have flourished.

Phoenix has a diverse economy with lots of job openings in various fields. Several large companies have large scale operations in Phoenix, including Medtronics, Go Daddy, General Dynamics, State Farm, USAA, Boeing, Intel and FedEx. Aerospace and electronic industries are particularly strong, as well as the financial service industry and IT. In particular, many recent graduates have good luck finding employment in the surrounding areas.
